Unit 7 Blog: Peer Reviews
How do you feel about peer reviews? What have your experience with them?
I enjoy peer reviews. It is an opportunity to get a different perspective of your writing. If done in a tasteful respectful manner peer reviews will enhance your end product. My experience with peer reviews has been enjoyable. Each student understands the stress of writing a paper since they themselves are going through the same process and tend to be less critical and more constructive in there reviews. Through a constructive review from your peer you are able to obtain how a reader processes your work. Although we write the paper and we feel it belongs to use, we must remember it is meant to be read and understood by others. That is why I welcome peer reviews and enjoy receiving constructive comments to enhance my writing.

Personal Writing Process
Personal Writing Process
My personal writing process is developing as I attended my courses with Kaplan. Before going to school at Kaplan I did not necessarily have a need for a writing process. I have learned a fair amount about my abilities as a writer during all my classes. I understand the importance of research and putting my research in order using an informal outline. I like using the informal outline because I feel it is an easy way to organize all of my information and weed out what is needed versus what is not needed. During my writing process I like to write my drafts and give it to my friends for correction. I have learned two sets of eyes are why better than one. I also enjoy the feedback I receive, which helps me improve my paper. One I receive my draft back I always give it back for a second review before I turn it in. I also submit a copy to the writing center and they always do a great job correcting my errors and providing feedback.

Stealing Ideas
As a student I have realized the enormous amount of hard work it takes to write a paper. When writing a paper I have made an extra effort to give credit to each and every author in which I have used information from to write my paper. I do this because they deserve the credit for their hard work and it is the right thing to do. If someone used something I created without giving me the proper credit I would try to explain that I deserve credit for my original idea or piece of work. I feel that using someone else’s work without giving them credit is like stealing. I would try to articulate that to the person who took credit for work or words that they took from someone else.
